Aluminium Frames Maintenance Guide
Aluminium windows and doors are designed to last for a considerable number of years, we
recommend the following cleaning and maintenance procedure is followed to ensure they remain at
their best for as long as possible, it is advisable to keep a maintenance record.
Depending on the area you live, we recommend that you clean the external face of your windows and
doors at least every 6 months. The internal face needs cleaning annually or sooner if required.
In areas affected by sand and salt water i.e: near the coast or surrounding a swimming pool, we
recommend that they are cleaned every 3 months. Door channels must be hoovered and cleaned
after windy conditions to avoid the doors jamming due to a buildup of sand.
Frames should be cleaned with warm water containing a mild detergent, they should be wiped down
with a non-abrasive cloth, sponge, or soft brush. Finally, they can be rinsed with cold water and dried
with a clean cloth or chamois leather.
Aluminium Aftercare
In order to ensure that drainage channels do not get blocked, the simplest way is to insert a tie wrap
and slide it through the channel to free any debris.
In regard to ironmongery, we recommend friction stays, locking mechanisms and hinges are
lubricated annually using a silicon-based spray.
